Michael Hayes, a native New Yorker, has been practicing massage in New York City and New England for over 16 years. Michael’s background includes 15 years studying and teaching martial arts, in addition to 14 years studying and teaching yoga.
“I have always been instinctively drawn and connected to body work,” explains Michael. “In my work I get to explore different body structures and body work techniques. I am always curious as to how we are bodily, emotionally and psychologically connected.”
His practice has included work as the massage therapist and massage instructor for the international Bates Dance Festival, massage therapist, yoga teacher and massage teacher for Dance New England, and massage therapist for master track and field athletes. An avid traveler, Michael has journeyed to the West Coast and Asia to expand his study and practice, combining his multiple passions.
A lover of the arts, Michael is also an accomplished visual artist (focusing on watercolor, charcoal, pencil and ink), as well as an African and modern dance performer. Michael united his love of dance with his skill of facilitating healing when he served as the staff massage therapist for the cast of Broadway’s Miss Saigon.
